Vinyasa Flow
-
Vinyasa Flow yoga emphasizes the sequential movement between postures, coordinated with and guided by deliberate breath. The Vinyasa practice becomes a moving meditation that creates strength, freedom and fluidity in the body and mind. As we ride the waves of breath in our Yoga practice, we learn to ride the waves of change in our lives with more ease. This class moves from pose to pose with each held for no more than five to eight breaths. Expect a fully balanced class of forward bending, twists, backbends with opportunity for inversions.
Vinyasa Flow classes vary slightly from teacher to teacher as they draw upon their diverse influences and own individual styles. Classes can be alignment-based sessions and other times gentler, softer flows.
For this reason we recommend checking in before starting these classes as a beginner. We can guide you to a more gentle teacher for your first class. We also recommend Yin, Nidra, Restorative and our 6 week beginners yoga course if you’re completely new to us.
Gentle yoga
-
This class moves at a slow pace and is very focused on moving with awareness. It will take you through a sequence of yoga postures that can calm the mind and increase mind/body connection. While yoga can increase flexbility and strength in the body it is also a beautiful, lifelong practice with origins in India.
All bodies and levels welcome to this class. Come along and we’d love to share more about the ways this practice can support our mind, body and spirit.
Restorative yoga
-
Designed to help you de-stress and unwind, Restorative yoga is a passive practice where you will be supported by props and hold poses for up to five minutes or more.
By aligning the physical and mental body and practising stillness or gentle movement the nervous system is calmed, allowing you to completely relax.
This class is great for those seeking rest and relaxation. Suitable for all bodies and all abilities, including beginners.
Suitable for all levels.
Yin yoga
-
In this class, we will embrace the energy of the moon—rest, relaxation, and restoration.
Yin Yoga focuses on holding various postures for 2-4 minutes in order to release tension of the muscles, tissues, nervous system, organs, and emotions held within the physical body. Followed by Yoga Nidra, we will enter into a deep state of meditative rest, which will allow us to explore our inner awareness and subconscious mind; it is in this place that we are able to transform our physical state, emotional presence, and thought pattern, creating new habits for the life we wish to live.
This class is perfect for those new the practice, but also the experienced practitioner. No matter who you are, you are sure to leave class feeling open and grounded for life outside the studio.
Candlelit Yin & Nidra
-
This class has all of the restful element of Yin yoga but ends with a guided meditation practice called Yoga Nidra.
Nidra means ‘sleep’ in sanskrit. This meditation style is practiced lying down. Aided by blankets, pillows and other props. A meditation for those that struggle to meditate. We attempt to mirror the state of sleep without succumbing to sleep itself (a lovely challenge indeed).
This class is perfect for those new the practice, but also the experienced practitioner. No matter who you are, you are sure to leave class feeling open and grounded for life outside the studio.

FAQs
-
Yoga is an ancient science concerned with developing a holistic, healthy and harmonious way of living. It offers benefits that make the body stronger and healthier and calm the mind. The word yoga has many shades of meaning, but is generally translated as “union” and the practice can lead to a balance of body, breath, mind and spirit.
-
Yes! You are a perfect candidate for yoga. Many people think that they need to be flexible to begin yoga, but that’s a little bit like thinking that you need to be able to play piano to take piano lessons. Come as you are and you will find that yoga practice will help you become more flexible. This newfound agility will be balanced by strength, coordination, as well as a sense of physical confidence and overall well-being.
-
We open our studio no more than 15 minutes before class begins. We recommend coming along 10 minutes early if you’ve never been before to make sure you have enough time to find us, park, walk in etc.
Please note, we lock our doors on time when we begin class. This ensures students belongings are secure, that we have adequate time for a warm up and that we don’t compromise the beginning and finish times (and potential subsequent roll on affect) of our schedule. We do not admit anyone after class starts for these reasons. We also understand that life can happen and do try to balance small business life with compassion.
Please contact us at info@studio70glasgow.com if you have any questions or need any support.
